The fantastic freshwater mussel lives in several of Oslo's rivers. Come and see freshwater mussels and learn why you cannot harvest them!

On the day you will have an opportunity to learn more about the area's unique nature. The day will particularly focus on freshwater mussels, which can purify 50 litres of water in a 24-hour period! The larvae hitch a ride on trout or salmon before settling on the bottom of the watercourse.

There will be activities for both young and old, and an exciting indoor exhibition.

The Østensjøvannet lake, with its varied nature and cultural landscape, stands out as a blue-green oasis in Oslo. It is one of Oslo's most important recreational areas and is used as an outdoor "classroom" by kindergartens, schools and university groups alike.

The Visitor Centre Wetland is open from 12:00 - 15:00 every Sunday from April to October (except in July). The Visitor Centre is located next to Havnehagan outdoor kindergarten in Bakkehavn.
