Join us on the roof of the Opera and enjoy the opening of a four-day celebration that will fill Oslo's streets with dance.

International Dance Day 2019 wants to help vulnerable road users and "take back the city" by filling the urban landscape with movement and dancing bodies. The aim is to give passers-by a new perspective on our city and promote sustainable movement as an experience in itself.

International Dance Day was established in 1982 by UNESCO and is celebrated in more than 60 countries. In Oslo, the official opening will take place on the roof of the Opera as several hundred dancers put on a half-hour programme of various genres of dance. This will be followed by more than 300 students from local university colleges, upper secondary schools and folk university colleges dancing this year's International Dance Day's dance.

After the opening, more than a hundred dancers will fill the city's outdoor spaces over the following four days. Come to watch or join in the dance!
