The Applied Anthropology Network, in partnership with the University of Oslo, is proud to announce our 7th annual WWNA symposia: Sustaining Cities

We increasingly inhabit and shape cities and they increasingly inhabit and shape us. According to the United Nations Development Programme, by 2050 two-thirds of the world’s population will be urban dwelling, giving rise to urgent questions of sustainability, and ‘green’ and ‘smart’ cities.

What remains is a consideration of the power relations underpinning or challenging such ideals and not least, the practical implications of such rapid growth. At WWNA 2019 we will explore this underbelly of the green city and ask how infrastructures in urban spaces play with or against our aspirations of smartness and greenness.

We’re bringing together the hands and minds that build our cities with a view to inspire and incite action, foster fruitful collaborations and exchange ideas and practices towards participating actively in the cities that we live, build and work in. Calling all designers, urbanists, planners, architects, applied anthropologists and enthusiasts to re-frame the future of cities around the world!

Join us between October 25-27th for immersive plenary sessions, to engage with like-minded creative professionals, students and graduates at the City Hotspot exhibition, test, learn and investigate new services products and ideas at exclusive thematic workshops and be wowed by that pulsing crowd with your Perspectives case study presentations.
